Araxxor - The Scariest Spider in RuneScape

The latest addition to the Old School RuneScape slayer bosses is the eight-legged beast, Araxxor! This spider will require more than a glass, paper and a solid toss outside to defeat. With it the new Best In Slot Amulet of Rancour has been released!

Araxxor requires 92 slayer to get an Araxyte task, anti-venoms and decent crush gear (Jagex seem to totally understand how to deal with huge spiders!). A top tip from the team when seeking getting a task is to first purchase the TASK EXTENSION!

How to get to Araxxor

If you’re up for the challenge, Araxxor can be found in the new Araxyte lair, which is located just to the south of Port Phasmatys, north west of Slepe.

One of the best ways to get there is to use the ectophial teleport and run south, banking at Port Phamatys along the way. Alternatively you can use your Drakan’s medallion for banking and run north from there.

Once you have a few kills under your belt and are proficient, you will get Spider cave teleports which will put you right outside the lair.

Fight Overview

Araxxor is a beefy spider with 1,020 hp and relatively high defensive stats, crush weapons are generally the best option here. Your best options include Scythe of Vitur (on crush), Inquisitor’s mace/Soulreaper Axe followed up by your highest strength crush weapon.

You NEED to remember your anti-venom, otherwise the damage will quickly get out of control.

Starting The Fight

Upon entering the lair, ensure you are in melee range praying MELEE, otherwise pray MAGIC (you’ll find out why if you don’t!).

During the fight small spiderlings will spawn which have different and interesting mechanics! All spiders can generally be one shot with a Ballista or Elder maul.

White spider: If you hit Araxxor whilst this one is alive it’ll reflect damage back onto you. Kill this ASAP.
Green spider: When this spider is killed a large area of poison will cover the ground. Kill this ASAP.
Red spider: When within melee distance, the spider will explode for massive damage and it can hit Araxxor! NICE!

Arraxor’s Special Attacks

There are three special attacks Araxxor can do randomly throughout the fight.

A poison projectile which will paint the tile beneath you in poison. Walk around for 4 seconds to avoid damage, however be careful with how you paint the floor if your damage is low!
An AoE will be thrown at the target, very similar to the last phase of the Alchemical Hydra covering the floor with poison.
A projectile will be fired in the direction of the player to the edge of the room where it will cover the floor in poison.

Enrage – Skree!

When Araxxor hits 25% hitpoints, it will Skree and enrage. Every attack Araxxor does will cause 3 poison splats on the floor. So make sure to keep moving! If you are taking lots of damage from spiderlings, you can pray range.

The Rewards!

When Araxxor dies you’ll have two options, either to loot or destroy it.

Looting

If you’re into getting some GP like most, you can loot the corpse for some pretty nice items.

Most notably the Amulet of Rancour which is the new BiS amulet which outshines the Amulet of Torture in strength, accuracy and style!

The Noxious halberd which has to be built from three items similar to the Abyssal bludgeon but is a great go-between of the Tentacle whip and Scythe of Viture! (Ideal for Ironmen)

Araxxor also drops some untradeables; the Araxyte head which can be combined with the Slayer Helm for a snazzy look and Nid, a cute little spiderling pet.

Destroying

However, if you’re wanting to stomp on the dead spider just to make sure, destroying the corpse will provide an additional roll for the pet, which is great news for green loggers!
