The Complete OSRS Money Making Guide

Old School Runescape is consistently one of the largest MMORPGs around, and like other MMORPGs, earning money for gear is one of the biggest barriers to success. If you want to be successful in PvM or PvP, you have to know your mechanics, but it’s also vital to have the latest shiny gear which costs a pretty penny.

In this guide we’ll outline some of the top ways to earn GP in OSRS as of 2024.

Bearing in mind that all of these methods take a sizable amount of in-game time to achieve large sums of cash, you might want to skip part of the grind by buying some of our safe GP from the store which is ethically generated (no botting!) by our teams of PvMers and skillers.

1. Killing Nex (DUO)

One of the best methods for money-making a guide in OSRS is to kill Nex in trios. You ideally need at least 95+ attack, 95+ strength, and 90+ defense to kill Nex efficiently. Killing Nex in 3s/4s is the most ideal. To find a team we recommend using the friend’s chat ‘osrs Nex FFa‘

Once you have the prerequisites, you can go ahead and start the mission. The profit rate for the duo will incorporate doing 6 kills per hour. In other words, you can kill 6-8 Nex per hour, which will give you around 10mil/hour profit.

Generally speaking, this is one of the best ways to earn money in OSRS if you’re serious about the game! The downside to this method is that the gear required for efficient Nex kills is quite expensive to get started. If you’re looking to use this method, we recommend first getting kitted out, by purchasing some of our safe GP from the store.

2. Completing the Fortis Colosseum (Wave 12)

One of the more recent additions to the game is the Fortis Colosseum. This PvM challenge is a 12 wave encounter which pits you against various waves of monsters with unique mechanics. Each wave you’re able to cash out if you think you cannot go further.

However, if you’re talented, the final wave (12) pits you against Sol Heredit the final boss which is one of our favourite bosses in the Services team due to the complex and rewarding fight which gets progressively more intense. If you’re able to put Sol Heredit on farm and kill him reliably, you can get one of the highest gold rates in the game at approximately 11mil/hour profit.

To achieve these rates you will need end game melee gear which at the very least requires you to have a Scythe of Vitur and blood fury.

If you choose this method to farm GP, you can consider yourself to be amongst the best PvMers in Gielinor!

3. High Alching Profitable Free-to-Play Items

If you’re a f2p player in need of some quick GP or a bond, we highly recommend this following method.

Whilst using High Alchmey on f2p items will only net you approximately 500k/hour, this is a highly accessible method which requires nothing more than lvl 55 magic and the initial front-loading of buying some items.

We highly recommend using Alchmate to help you identify the best items to alchemise.

4. Tombs of Amascut (Expert +)

Tombs of Amascut (ToA) was the third raid to be released in OSRS and features the most colourful assortment of bosses. This raid is unique in that you can set your own raid level by selecting unique invocations (modifications), which makes it the most accessible raid yet.

If you successfully complete the raid you will be rewarded with an extremely high chance of receiving unique raid related loot such as Tumeken’s Shadow.

Simply Completing the raid at raid level 300 (expert) will net you approximately 5mil/hour profit, with this increasing drastically the higher the raid level.

The typical raid level which is completed by groups is between 400-450 which offers the sweet spot of challenging invocations, whilst not requiring you to be a top 0.1% PvMer.

We highly recommend doing this in groups which can be found in discord groups such as We Do Raids and Tombs of Amascut as this raid get increasingly more accessible and achievable with additional people.

5. Theatre of Blood

The Theatre of Blood (ToB) was the second raid to be released in OSRS. This raid is considered by us and many others to be the hardest and most punishing of the three, but with it, we think it’s the most rewarding as a player to complete.

Whilst it is rewarding in itself to complete, it also is an excellent money earner. You’ll have the best time completing this raid with a Scythe of Vitur as your main weapon, which is also the principal mega-rare from the raid. Using a Scythe of Vitur will net you approxiamtely 10mil/hour.
